Brent practices primarily in business and health care law.  His day-to-day representation focuses on small businesses and a broad spectrum of clients in the health care industry, including single-specialty and multi-specialty physician practices, concierge medical practices, physical therapy practices, RHIOs, ambulatory surgical centers, pathology laboratories, revenue cycle management companies, pharmacies, billing and management companies, independent diagnostic testing facilities, and other ancillary health care providers.

Brent assists clients with the formation of businesses and related entities (such as corporations, LLCs, and partnerships), the acquisition, merger or disposition of entities, and drafting and negotiating a variety of legal documents, including, partnership, shareholder and operating agreements, employment and professional services agreements and buy-sell agreements.  His regulatory experience includes auditing and analyzing arrangements for compliance with fraud and abuse, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, HIPAA and HITECH Act, Stark II, fee-splitting statutes, and related anti-referral laws, developing compliance programs for clients, and working to resolve HIPAA complaints, state privacy complaints and other licensure actions.

Brent has been a featured speaker at numerous physician-hospital organization meetings, medical society meetings, and continuing medical education seminars, and is a co-author of The Compliance Manual for Prescribing Controlled Substances in Florida.
